Fitness for Duty Evaluation

A psychological Fitness for Duty Evaluation (FFDE) is a formal assessment conducted when there is clear evidence suggesting that an employee may not be able to safely or effectively do their job. This evaluation is requested when there is reason to believe that a psychological condition or issue could be the cause. Because it involves assessing the person’s mental health, an FFDE is considered a “medical” examination under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The main goal of this process is to find out if the employee can carry out the key duties of their job in a safe and effective way.
